Sabah squatter families stealing RM64m in power every year

Squatter families in Sabah are stealing power and this is costing the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) RM64 million a year, Star Online reported today.

It quoted SESB asset management Senior General Manager Muhamad Nazri Pazil as saying almost 178,000 squatter homes in the state were believed to have illegal connections.

He said this following a two-day operation against illegal power connections in Sandakan.

About 300kg of wires were seized during the operation at Batu Sapi and Batu 3.

He said theft of power led to unstable electricity supply elsewhere.

He said such operations will continue with the assistance of other government agencies. - FMT
