Penang court rejects application to remand JJPTR founder Johnson Lee, two aides

BUKIT MERTAJAM - The magistrate's court here has rejected a fresh application to remand JJ Poor To Rich (JJPTR) founder Johnson Lee and two of his aides.

The trio, led by police, arrived around 10.55am Sunday at the Bukit Mertajam courthouse from the Central Seberang Prai district police headquarters in Bandar Perda.

At about 1.50pm, their lawyer G. Jaya Prem walked out and announced to reporters that their remand application has been rejected by magistrate Diannee Ningrad Nor Azahar.

He said his clients had been detained for the past six days and have been cooperative with the police.

"The public interest is better served when the police respond to the cooperation by the suspects," he said.

It is not known if the trio will be rearrested.

JJPTR made headlines recently after Lee claimed that the company had lost US$400mil (RM1.738bil) due to a “hacking job”.

Investors panicked when the 20% monthly interest they were promised was not deposited into their accounts in April.

Police arrested Lee and two of his right-hand men on Tuesday morning.

The trio were released on police bail in Petaling Jaya on Friday after their remand expired, but they were re-arrested shortly afterwards.

They were handed over to Penang police for further investigation into the money scheme.
